Forest School

This week Year 6 began their Forest School sessions. We headed up to the field with much excitement, but Miss Franklin and Mrs McWilliams were very impressed by how responsible the children were. We learnt about how to stay safe at  Forest School (our number one rule is 'watch where you're going!) and we saw habitats such as fox dens that we need to give plenty of space to so we don't disturb them.

We then discussed some activities that we would like to do in future sessions such as learning how to safely light and maintain a small fire and using tools for practical purposes.

Finally we chose to build dens. We used logs, sticks, rope and tarpaulin. Some children even used mud as a substitute for cement!
