Summer Term 1
Not one but two netball games were played on Wednesday 23rd April against Crockenhill.
vs.
Crockenhill Game A: 8-4 to Crockenhill
Crockenhill didn’t miss a shot, they made flying intercepts and Singlewell started to panic as we were not used to such a challenge! We were down 6-1 at one point, but after a regroup and position shuffle, Singlewell came back fighting and began to close the gap but not quite enough!
Crockenhill were really impressed with Q’s play, he played smart and read the game well and earnt player of the match.
Crockenhill Game B: 6-0 to Singlewell
You would think Singlewell were tired but the team seemed to have even more energy. Singlewell dominated possession, and stayed positive even when there were missed shots.
They were supportive of less experienced members of the team and helped build each other’s confidence.
A special mention to E, who had her first competitive game and played very well. Her teammates were impressed also!
Also to I for being a well-earnt player of the match. She created a difficult challenge for Crockenhill with her long reach and tall jump!
Well done Singlewell, more matches to come!
Spring Term 2
Tag-Rugby Festival
At the end of Term 4, the Year 6's attended a tag-rugby festival at Dartford Valley Rugby club. The festival's aim was to get as many games played as possible, introduce rugby to some new players and to have fun! Our team were amazing, showed great team-work and had some excellent results in our game. With a 8-0, 8-2, 12-6, 8-2 and 9-2 win, we were very proud of our team. We were very impressed with how they had spent their lunch times practising in the weeks leading up to the tournament! It was great to see our experienced rugby players taking our newer players under their wings and showing them what a great sport it is and being so encouraging. Well done Year 6!
Riverview 7s Football
On Saturday 19th March our boy's football team had the opportunity to represent the school in the annual 7-a-side football tournament. The team showed great determination, sportsmanship and team-work in all of their matches. Unfortunately, the results did not go our way this time, but we had a great time!
Singlewell (8) vs. Bean (2)
This game was certainly a challenge! It was a low scoring game because of how many interceptions took place. IO, the captain, supported the team well and played with integrity. MT brought high energy and played with determination.
NO played positions very much out her comfort zone and really gave it her all. FD grew in confidence as the game went on and she was always there to support her team. JG was excellent in Goal Attack and Centre, his placement on the court and finding space meant he was able to help the ball fly down court to the goal. HM switched from defence to shooting in every quarter with ease.
IT showed speed and agility and helped direct play, earning her a well deserved player of the match!
As a whole, the team gave the match 100%, listened to umpires and respected teammates and opponents, everything I asked for. In the end we won the match but both teams should be proud of their effort.

Spring Term 1
Singlewell Primary (24) vs. Hextable Primary (3)
What a game this was! From the very first whistle our team did our school proud. Not just because of their agility, grit and determination but also because of the great sportsmanship on court.
IT played all positions and was unstoppable; high energy but still calm with some impressive shooting. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s HM with her flying intercepts! Hextable struggled to get past our defensive barrier that was IO or equally, put him off when he was shooting. QB was always there with quick hands to help the ball go straight to goal with speed, accuracy and clever footwork. NO and IR were new to netball very recently and both covered the whole court well in the Centre position.
A special mention goes to our captain HS who Hextable voted player of the match. Hextable children and teachers were impressed with how HS conducted himself, and cheered on good play for both teams. On top of this, he’s a skilled and dynamic player who was always in the right place at the right time!
Thank you to Mr Roe for organising the match, Coach Shannon for umpiring, the rest of Netball Club & Mrs Broad for cheering us on and to Hextable Primary for an enjoyable game and giving maximum effort right until the end.

Term 1
Football!
This term we have had our first football tournament! The children showed great resilience and team-work. They managed to get to the semi-final of their competition. We are very proud of their efforts! Here is a message from our captain and the rest of the team!
Captain - "It was a very good competition, we tried our hardest. We didn't get the result we wanted but we get another opportunity to play in Januaury."
A - "As goalkeeper, going to penalties was scary but I tried my hardest."
H - "We were unlucky to miss out on the final, but we were proud that we got out of our group"
A - "We tried our best, we hoped to get to the final but we go again next time!"
J - "Although we didn't win, we got a great place for our first tournament, we are really happy with the result."
Bikeability!
This term, Year 6 have had the opportunity to take part in their Level 2 Bikeability Course. This was a very exciting, two day course that taught the children how to stay safe on the roads whilst riding bikes. They learnt about road signs and signals, which will allow them to travel to their secondary schools safely! Their instructors were very impressed with their ability and took them out on the local roads to practice their newly learnt skills!
