Transition to Secondary
We enjoy close links with all the local secondary schools. A selective system of secondary education exists in the Gravesham area. If parents so choose there is an opportunity for their child to take a secondary selection test.
The most suitable secondary education for your child is discussed at the parent/teacher consultation meetings.
A booklet explaining Kent’s procedures for secondary transfer for Year 6 pupils is circulated to parents in September.
Children attend transition visits to their secondary school. KCC's School Travel Planning Team have produced a small booklet, 'So...you are soon going to a new school'. The aim of this is to prepare the children for their new journey to Secondary School. The activities explore the child's feelings about transition, guide them through making decisions about how to travel safely, and to provide them with useful information and resources on the way. In addition, information has been provided for parents of all Year 6 pupils, 'Preparing your child for independent travel to Secondary School'.
