As part of Drowning Prevention Week, we are sharing key safety messages from Cascades Leisure Centre, where many of our pupils swim. Simple steps can help prevent serious accidents around water.

We encourage families to:

• Always supervise children closely near water.

• Swim at lifeguarded pools and follow all safety rules.

• Teach children the Water Safety Code: Stop and Think, Stay Together, Float, and Call 999.

• Ensure children understand pool rules, such as no running, no diving in shallow areas, and listening to lifeguards.

• Keep swimming lessons regular to build confidence and skills.
