Why Excellent Attendance Matters

 At Singlewell Primary we want to work together to support all our children in maximising their time with us, to collaborate and support any barriers they have and make sure they can celebrate their friendships and achievements. When children miss school, they can miss out on opportunities that help them develop friendships and have fun. They can miss out on belonging to their class, friends and school community.  At Singlewell Primary School, we believe that every day in school counts. Good attendance is closely linked to pupils’ wellbeing, progress, resilience and long-term success. Missing even a few days of learning can make it harder for children to keep up with their classmates and feel confident in school life.

We aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance each year.

Support First Approach

We understand that sometimes attendance can be affected by challenges at home. Please speak with us if you need support. Our school team can help with:

• Morning routines

• Health concerns

• Anxiety about school

• Family circumstances

• Access to additional services

We are here to work with you and give you a support first approach.

Celebrating Attendance and Punctuality 

We recognise and celebrate excellent attendance through:

• Monthly attendance rewards where classes are awarded a non-uniform day for the class with the best attendance or most improved.      

•                                     

• The chance to hold the Attendance trophy or look after Greyson in their classrooms        

• Pupils should attend school every day unless they are genuinely unwell.

• Pupils should arrive on time, ready for learning.

• Parents and carers must contact the school before 9.00am if their child is absent.

• Being on time ensures a calm and settled start to the day.

• Gates open at 8:40am and close at 8.55am when the register is taken.

• Arrival after 9.00am will be marked as late.

• Arrival after 9.25am will be recorded as an unauthorised absence for the morning session.

                                                      

Should your child require medical treatment during the school day, please let the office know in advance, you will need to fill out a form to allow us to administer the medication.  Wherever possible please arrange appointments out of school time and please contact the Headteacher or school office: office@singlewell.kent.sch.uk in advance, should your child need to be absent from school for any other reason.
